Well, we’ve almost made it to the end of July. It was a hot month and brought plenty of up and downs with it. To be honest, we’re glad to see it behind us.
Let’s start with the good stuff, the stuff ahead that we’re really looking forward to:
One week from today! We’re hitting the road for a short run with Grifters & Shills! Those dates are:
August 4th – The Hunt Club – Tulsa, OK – 8pm
August 5th – Gaslight Gardens – Lawrence, KS – 8pm
August 6th – Four Quarter Bar – Little Rock, AR – 9pm w/ Richard Michael Hall
It’s going to be a lot of fun and it will also be the first time we’ve visited Lawrence, KS, so we’re extra stoked for that one. See you out there next week!
Also, for you localish folks, don’t forget to pick up tickets to see us with John Calvin Abney and Bryon White at Old Quarter Acoustic Cafe next Wednesday, August 3rd!
Now to recap the past month:
To kick July off, we got to play a couple of shows, got to spend some times with friends who were touring through the area as audience members and also got some time to rest up a bit, which is rare for us. These were all things we were very thankful for as we navigated the first half of the month, but then things started taking a slide…
Nearly 3 weeks ago, Baxter started having seizures, which appeared to be caused by a brain issue. Sadly, as dogs reach their elder years (Baxter was a month was being 11), these things happen, but we remained optimistic as we got him started on meds to quell the seizures. Then, everyone in our household got Covid, which knocked us all for a loop, but, thankfully, gave us an entire week at home to care for Baxter and see how the issues with his brain were not going to be fixed with meds. So, last Saturday, we had to say goodbye to our album cover model, merch model, cold-weather security guard, production assistant and friend, Baxter.
It was difficult and, if you check our social media accounts, we gave a pretty lengthy eulogy to our buddy, so we won’t rehash that here, but we do appreciate all the people who took time to reach out to us and show some love. Baxter lived a pretty eventful and love-filled life. He was pretty lucky for an old bulldog, as were we.
Thanks for taking the time to check out the site and for supporting our artistic endeavors. We’re very grateful for the moments of your lives you share with us. Hopefully we’ll see you out on the road soon!
