Friends, we hope you are doing well. As you may have noticed, we haven’t posted anything new here since the world paused as COVID-19 moved across the globe. This is definitely a weird time we are currently living in. Some things will change permanently and other things will be more familiar with the creation of a vaccine, but right now, we’re focusing on trying to do the best we can with the current situation. So what does that entail?
Well, first off, we’ve been working a new album. Since there are no live shows or anything happening, we’re going to put some time in on making a new record. We’re going to do a lot more on this one and fill it out with extra instruments. We might even add some light percussion to a song or three. There is no time table for completion, but we are working on it. So, hopefully, we’ll have something new for all of you to check out when the new normal kicks in.
Next up, we’re working on doing some online shows. We’ve done a couple on Facebook Live on our page and we also moved the Houston Americana Women’s Festival online this past weekend. The photo above is from the performance. All of the artists who participate were great and we brought in over $500 for the Houston Area Women’s Center. It was really great.
We apologize for taking so long to update the site. If we said there wasn’t a bit of depression coming in from seeing dates and tours disappear, we would be liars. Our Pacific-Northwest Tour is obviously not happening now and a couple of regional tours have been cancelled, as well. We felt, even if we could do the shows, we would rather people not have their memory of a Brightwire show be the time they got gravely ill or had a friend who died from getting this virus. It’s just not worth it to us. If we find the right situation and feel it would be safe, we could do something local, but we’re not heading far from home these days.
We’ll keep doing a monthly online performance and continue working on the album. We’ll also do better to check in here and social media. Lots of love to all of you. We appreciate your time and hope you’re all well.
