Today, Choosing Sides of Our Own Demise was released out into the world. We’re stoked to finally have it out in the world and hopefully a few of y’all will be enjoying some of the songs by now!
We made the best record we’ve made thus far, which is the point of this whole music thing: constant growth. To begin, the addition of Rebecca Stoll on bass and Joel Mora on drums was HUGE. They made it a real band release filled with great memories and strong performances. Helf stepped up on this record with some of his best lead work and Kim blew it out of the water with her vocal parts. The brilliant, talented Mel Torres and Jewelz Melody brought our cover of Lone Justice’s Shelter to the next level. John Stoll mixed the record and also mastered it. It’s great to have someone who knows your sound better than you know it willing to lend a hand. Finally, Daniel Torres absolutely delivered the most captivating artwork he’s created for us yet with the cover art and insert artwork.
All of that is to say that we’re so fortunate to be surrounded by not only a skilled, talented community, but one that is charitable and giving of their talents and skills. It made this album mean more than the ones that came before and made it sound the best we’ve sounded…and look the best we’ve looked on a record store shelf.
We hope you enjoy the album. We’re grateful to those who have supported us over the years and made it feasible to press yet another album to vinyl. Tomorrow, we’ll be celebrating the release with two performances. We’ll be doing an acoustic set at Sweet Spot Audio and Records at 1pm. There will be records for sale, we’ll be signing them and playing some songs from the new album.
Then, we’ll be closing out the night in Galveston at the Old Quarter with a full-band performance at 8pm. Jared McGovern and the Jumpshooters will be opening up the night. We’re real excited for that. Jared is one of our favorites. There’s still some $15 presale tickets available via the Old Quarter website or it’s $20 at the door!
