The new year is here! We made it through the holiday season and nearly 2 months off from playing!
What do we have to show for it? Well, we got some rest, we wrote some new songs, we recorded some podcast episodes and started prepping for the year ahead!
The new year kicked off with a surprise from the Houston Chronicle. Here, But Gone was named to the The 10 best albums from local Houston artists of 2024, according to music critic Joey Guerra! We came in at #9 and are appreciative that Joey gave the album a listen. The whole liking the album thing is a definite bonus! Check out the article here or through the press page.
Season three of Music in the Minor League kicked off yesterday! We had Liz Sloan McGovern of Urban Pioneers and Mack Dart of Rock Bottom String Band on as guests. They discussed their bands, their paths to music AND the Walk This Earth Music Festival that both bands are putting on together in April! There’s so much good stuff in this one. We had a blast catching up with Mack and Liz!
Brightwire has TWO shows next week! On Thursday, January 16th, we’ll be at Kojak’s opening up for Andrew Delaney! We saw him with Libby Koch last year and had a fun time listening to his witty songs. We start at 6:30pm. It should be fun.
Then, Sunday, January 19th, we’ll be at Dan Electros with Trish Cramblet and the Bad Habits! Trish is heading up to Seattle so this will be her last Houston show for a while. Don’t blow it and miss out on this one. It’s a Sunday matinee show. You can’t go wrong! We start at 3pm sharp! And Trish will close out the afternoon!
To close out the month, we’ll be playing Joelapalooza (Joel’s Birthday Bash) at the Old Quarter. 4pm doors, 6pm music start on that one. It’s going to be one hell of an afternoon! Brightwire is playing a full band set! Grifters & Shills, Raudiver, Galvezton and India Tigers in Texas will be rounding out the bill! $20 for 5 killer local bands!
That’s all we have for this update. We hope to see you at a show soon! Check the ‘Tour’ page for all of our current dates. See y’all soon!
